We are looking forward to our May 14 screening of Ema Edosio’s OTITI! Come on a solemn and moving trip with the eponymous lead character (played by Gina Castel) as she navigates precipices in her career, family and intimate relationships. Although different in style and narrative from Edosio’s debut feature film (comedy KASALA!) OTITI offers equally engaging socio-cultural commentary. You don’t want to miss it on the big screen.
The director Ema Edosio will join us for a post-screening conversation that will be moderated by culture writer, Franklin Ugobude. As always, come for the film, stay for the conversation! You’ll be glad you did.

ABOUT THE FILM
Otiti is a withdrawn and reserved seamstress with a fashion show coming up, a boyfriend she refuses to take the next step with and a secret that she carries within her. However, a chance meeting with Onome, a potential client, up-ends her regular life and she realises that she is the daughter of a wealthy man who had abandoned her and her mother. Onome takes Otiti to meet her father and she discovers that he is bedridden after having a stroke. The father welcomes her into the family, knowing that she is his daughter. However, his sons Dafe, Tega and Ejiro are wary of her.
As the days go by and with the date of the fashion show approaching, Otiti takes upon her the responsibility to care for her father. This does not sit well with her half-brothers as they want their father to die so they can take over his wealth. She is unwittingly dragged into an intense family feud where she has to fight to save her father’s life from his greedy disenfranchised children and family members who are determined to get his wealth at all costs.
